Hi, I’m Xiao Fu, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) specializing in integrative psychiatry and functional medicine–informed mental health care.

If you’ve tried therapy or medication and still feel stuck, you’re not the problem—the approach might be. You may have been told you have anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or BPD, but something about it never fully fit. Or maybe you’ve made progress, but not the kind that actually changes how you feel day-to-day.

I work with adults who want a deeper, more precise understanding of their mental health—especially those navigating complex PTSD, self-esteem struggles, and relationship patterns that keep repeating despite “doing the work.”

Together, we look beyond surface-level symptoms to understand why you feel the way you do—whether that’s trauma, nervous system dysregulation, or underlying biological factors that have been missed.

You get a personalized, integrative approach that may include:

  • intentional, minimal, and strategic medication use

  • targeted nutraceutical and functional medicine support

  • supportive psychotherapy (including trauma-informed approaches like IFS)

  • lifestyle and mind-body interventions that actually fit your life

This isn’t about quick fixes or endless prescriptions. It’s about helping you feel more stable, more clear, and more like yourself—without unnecessary medication burden.

I currently provide virtual care to patients in Virginia, New York, Washington, Oregon, and California.

Medication Management
Integrative psychiatry isn’t about avoiding medication—it’s about using it with intention. Together, we find what truly helps: introducing medication when needed, and thoughtfully reducing it when it’s no longer serving you. The goal is simple—help you feel better with the least burden on your body, while supporting long-term stability through a more holistic approach.

Supportive Psychotherapy

Medication is only one part of mental health care. Our visits also create space to talk about what’s happening in your life and how it may be affecting how you feel. When helpful, I incorporate supportive psychotherapy to help you navigate stress, understand emotional patterns, and strengthen practical coping skills.

My practice is primarily focused on psychiatric care rather than weekly psychotherapy. If you’re looking for deeper, ongoing therapy, I’m happy to support your work alongside a dedicated therapist.

Lifestyle & Supplement Support
Mental health doesn’t exist in isolation from your daily life. Sleep, nutrition, movement, and stress all play a role in how you feel. Rather than overwhelming changes, we focus on small, sustainable adjustments that actually fit your life. When appropriate, I incorporate targeted, evidence-based supplements—whether that means building a plan from scratch or helping you refine what you’re already taking safely and effectively.

Genetic & Functional Testing
Sometimes the full picture isn’t visible on standard labs. Using a functional medicine lens, I offer advanced testing to better understand what’s happening beneath the surface—nutrient imbalances, gut health, inflammation, toxin exposure, and genetic factors that influence mood and medication response. This allows us to move beyond trial-and-error and create a treatment plan tailored specifically to your biology.

Hyperbolic Tapering
Coming off medication isn’t one-size-fits-all—and it shouldn’t be rushed. I offer a personalized, gradual tapering approach to minimize withdrawal and support your nervous system. We move at a pace that feels safe and sustainable, with ongoing guidance. When needed, I collaborate with compounding pharmacies for precise hyperbolic dose adjustments.
